Red Velvet Cake

This is one recipe, need 1 ½ to frost, 2 to decorate
Ingredients (frosting):

2 ½ tablespoon flour
½ cup milk

½ cup butter
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla

- Cook until thick, cool.
II.
½ cup butter
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
- Cream together.
- Add 2 eggs
- Add to sugar and shortening
- Add milk and flour mixture
Mix I. & II. And beat to spreading consistency.
Ingredients (cake):
(Cream)
½ cup shortening
1 ½ cup sugar
(Make paste)
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 ounces red food coloring
(Mix together)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
(Mix together)
2 ½ cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
(Mix and fold into mixture)
1 ½ teaspoon soda
1 tablespoon vinegar
Directions (cake):
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Use two, 9-inch pans.
