Pecan Pie

1/3 cup butter softened
¾ cup packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 unbaked pie shell
Cream butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add eggs one at a time. Add filling ingredients, one at a time, in order listed.
Fill pie shell with filling mixture. Apply band of foil to edge of pie to prevent overcooking of crust edge.
Bake at 375° for 40-50 minutes. Allow to cool thoroughly before serving. 6-8 servings.
